I guess it really began back in 2008 when I bought a Ducati 848. I had ridden sport bikes for many years but something about this was very different; this was the first time I was ever on a bike that seemed to be calling me a giant baby every time that I rode it. Contrary to the general perception of sportbike riders I was not a speed demon and was very cautious on the streets so I had to find an outlet to ‘stretch my legs’ on this new bike to see what it was capable of…and that is when I discovered track days.

Even now I can still recall my first time rolling onto a track. The nervousness, the anticipation, and an odd sense of reverence as if I were entering a chapel and I suppose that in a sense I was. I did not know it at the time but this was to become my new religion, one devoted to precision, speed, and personal development.

Track days were great and I rode them exclusively for two years before in 2010 I took the plunge (at some prodding from my friends) and gave racing a try.  I was hooked. This was everything that I was looking for. Sure there was speed and adrenaline but it is so much more than that. The friendships that I have forged while racing are some of the most dear to me in life, partially because of the large amount of trust that we must place in one another but also because of the shared risk. Racing brings me to life in a way that nothing else has. It is also a teacher. Harsh and unforgiving, but rewarding in ways that I would need to be a poet to properly express.

It was after my first crash where I destroyed a brand new set of expensive aftermarket levers that I realized there was a need for a less expensive option without sacrificing the quality and safety needed to endure the rigors of racing. I leveraged my business expertise and connections and began a line of tough-as-nails levers which met all my needs. Not too long after, people began asking about them and I decided to make them available to the public.

Fast forward to today. I am currently an expert classed racer, fighting for top podiums and series championships. Racing is still my passion as is all things two wheeled. With the launch of MadScientistMoto, this marks another chapter in my life where I will continue to bring quality products to the motorcycling community at fair prices.
